As part of stc Group's commitment to the ALL4Education digital inclusion action plan for 2023, the Smart Truck Initiative was developed to bridge the digital divide, particularly for the elderly population in remote areas. This innovative project features a mobile digital classroom designed to empower seniors by equipping them with essential digital skills that are increasingly vital in today’s technology-driven society.
The Smart Truck is not just a vehicle; it’s a comprehensive learning environment on wheels. It includes interactive workshops focused on navigating government applications, social media platforms, and essential daily digital tools. By fostering digital literacy among seniors, the initiative aims to enhance their independence, connectivity, and overall quality of life, reducing feelings of isolation and increasing engagement with their communities.
Phases of the Initiative:
- Phase One:** Launched in Riyadh, this phase targeted 2,003 participants over 31 days. The program provided hands-on training, personalized support, and follow-up sessions to ensure skills retention.
- Phase Two: Expanded to the northern region, including Hail, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Borders, reaching 4,440 participants over 18 days**. This phase included community partnerships to reinforce learning and provide additional resources.
By focusing on the elderly, the Smart Truck Initiative represents a significant step towards inclusivity, ensuring that all members of society can thrive in an increasingly digital world.
